NILUS CROCO

Nilus Croco is a men's belt in black Porosus crocodile, part of the Moreschi Exclusive collection. At 35 mm (1.38") wide, it brings crocodile into the most everyday piece of men's leather goods, the one you wear daily with a suit or city trousers.

The leather has a matte finish that brings out the natural geometry of the scales, different on every belt. Stitching runs along the edges, and a nubuck lining covers the inner side, the one that sits against your shirt, so the belt stays soft where it touches you. The double keeper is wrapped in the same crocodile, so the leather runs uninterrupted even where the belt fastens.

The rectangular brass buckle, in a polished silver-tone finish, has clean lines and slightly rounded corners and is engraved with the Moreschi logo. The contrast between polished metal and matte crocodile is the belt's only play of surfaces.

At 35 mm (1.38"), it fits the loops of suit trousers and chinos alike. Nilus Croco goes with a dark suit and black smooth-calfskin shoes, but holds up just as well in a more relaxed outfit with dark jeans and a wool jacket. Paired with Etna Croco or the Bernina Croco clutch from the same collection, the crocodile carries over from bag to belt.

Nilus is the Latin name for the Nile. Along its banks, the ancient Egyptians revered the crocodile as the sacred animal of the god Sobek, with cult centers at Kom Ombo and in the Faiyum. A sacred animal, long before it was a leather.
