The 1940s The origins
After gaining experience at RIV, a historic shoe factory in Vigevano, Mario Moreschi decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial journey in October 1946. With two partners, he founded Calzaturificio Biellese, choosing a courageous and innovative path for the time: to produce high-quality men's footwear, in stark contrast to the dominant volume market.
This marked the beginning of Moreschi's contribution to the creation of the myth of Vigevano as the 'capital of Italian footwear'.
The 1950s The beginning of expansion
Mario Moreschi started again with a new name – Morres – and a new factory. He was joined by 13 employees from his previous company. Production was initially limited to around 20 pairs of shoes per day.
In 1955, the first sale abroad was made, in Germany. From there, exports and volumes grew rapidly.
"It was in 1954 that the fateful take-off phase took place. There was no more room for second thoughts or indecision."
In November 1957, the untimely death of Mario Moreschi marked a crucial moment. The leadership of the company passed to his son GianBeppe Moreschi, just 23 years old, supported by his trusted colleague Giuseppe De Paoli.
The 1960s The birth of the Moreschi brand
In September 1962, Milanese designer Angelo Gabriele Fronzoni made a decisive contribution to the brand's identity: he designed the famous logo – two stylised shoes forming an 'M' – and suggested a new name.
"What's your name?"
"Moreschi."
"That will be your new name."
On 1 January 1963, Calzaturificio Moreschi was officially founded. Exports expanded to Asia, and the first shops were opened in the centre of Milan.
The 1970s Craftsmanship as a core value
The Moreschi team continued to invest heavily in high-quality craftsmanship. Aware that many stages of the manufacturing process could not be automated, the company placed people at the heart of its philosophy, even before machines.
"The 250/350 manual operations, even if assisted by machines, remain indispensable for creating high-quality shoes."
The 1980s Internationalisation
The brand expands to over 50 countries. GianBeppe Moreschi's children join the company, contributing to the development and modernisation of the production process.
Moreschi expands its offering to include leather goods, experiments with new combinations of materials and lines, and introduces a more scientific production organisation, minimising waste.
1990s – 2000s Global recognition
Moreschi celebrates 50 years in business, reaching an annual production of 250,000 pairs of shoes thanks to the work of around 400 employees.
Moreschi shoes are distributed in 85 countries and become ambassadors of Italian craftsmanship excellence around the world.
In 2003, the company moved to a new production facility, still in Vigevano.
During these years, partnerships with other Made in Italy brands are also strengthened, such as the one with Piero Antinori, which gives rise to innovative experiments in leather treatment.
2010 The point of reference in Milan
The Moreschi boutique opens in Piazza San Babila, in the heart of Milan.
Production stabilised at around 500,000 units per year, with an increasingly international clientele.
"We have a great story to tell, but what really matters is the unique experience of wearing our shoes."
2025 A new chapter
Glam Srl and Imerman Family Office, already well known in the sector for the success of Superglamourous, an Italian brand specialising in men's footwear with a bold and contemporary aesthetic, become the owners of the Moreschi brand.
Their digital know-how and focus on new luxury scenarios will now be put at the service of Moreschi, with the aim of honouring its heritage and taking the brand into the future, while respecting its identity.
The 'Moreschi walk' continues.
